Hello my name is Thania,
I'm so grateful that you are visiting my site. 9 years ago, I took a mission team to the Guatemala garbage dump, I never imagining the impact that encounter would have on my life and on that community.
The image of children and their mothers stopping their digging through the burning trash just to run and line up for a sandwich was heartbreaking and shocking. I remember asking the children if anyone came regularly to help them or simply spend time with them. Their answer was, "Only three times a year." I could barely hold it together.
As I walked away hugging them, I felt the Lord saying to me, "You are the one I've chosen to come back and teach them about My love and My ways."
Since that day, I have dedicated the last nine years of my life to modeling the love of Christ and providing sustainable help so these precious families can experience a better quality of life. Medical care, education, and ongoing discipleship have become the heart of our mission.

Women & Children: Dump Ministry
Over 100 families live in our local garbage dump, they face unimaginable challenges day to day. They live there in order to find things to sell in the piles that are brought and dropped off each day. Three times a week we have three services happening at once, one for the kids that involves singing songs and doing dances, making a craft, learning a Bible story, and a snack. One for the youth 11 and up, they receive a lesson, do small group discussion, play a game, and receive a snack as well. The last service is for the women, they have a time of worship and prayer and then they receive a message/devotional time.
The Hope Center
In 2021, we were blessed to move into a small building to hold our services and kids' activities...prior to this we were under some trees.
The Hope Center continues to bless the families in this community, and provide us with a place to meet, and hold services. When we first began visiting the Dump we never expected the Lord to move how he has. Having a building that will continue to bless the church that has been built there for generations to come, is a dream only He could make possible. We have plans in the works to have a daily clinic operating out of The Hope Center as well!
